The Augusta Fire Protection District has adopted by ordinance the 2021 International Building and Fire Codes.
Occupancy Permit: Before you move into a commercial building, you must apply for occupancy, pay the permit fee and pass a fire safety inspection. If you are doing construction prior to occupancy, the Occupancy Permit is included in your building permit. New Construction, Alteration, Addition: The fire district conducts electronic plan review and issues permits for construction. As of June 2021, commercial buildings are required to be permitted and inspected. Plans must be signed and sealed by a design professional.
